Leading eye surgeon David H. Leach, M.D. has been a partner of Tampa Eye Clinic since 1992 and serves as Medical Director and Chief Surgeon for the Tampa Eye Laser Center. As Tampa's only fellowship-trained corneal and laser vision correction specialist, Dr. Leach is uniquely qualified to perform your laser or lens implant procedure.

Dr. Leach has written several papers and articles on various refractive surgery topics, which have been published in cornea and laser surgery journals and textbooks.

​

A Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Leach is a consultant on staff at Baycare St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. He is a former Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida Department of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Leach had a two-year Fellowship in Excimer Laser, Laser Vision Correction and Corneal Surgery at the Louisiana State University Eye Center in New Orleans, Louisiana - the birthplace of laser vision correction in the United States.

Dr. Leach completed a three-year ophthalmology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.  He also worked in the Henry Ford Hospital Emergency Room.

Dr. Leach received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree  with honors from University of Michigan where he specialized in Ophthalmology.

Dr. Leach graduated Cum Laude from prestigious Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts with a bachelors of science degree in Biology.

In recognition of his superior LASIK results, David H. Leach, M.D., has received the prestigious Centurion Award.  The Centurion Award recognizes excellence in laser vision correction and honors surgeons who exceed the highest standards.

To earn the Centurion Award, LASIK surgeons must submit their results for 100 consecutive LASIK procedures.  100% of all LASIK cases presented must meet or surpass the result criterial outlined by the manufacturer of the Excimer laser. 

​

Dr. Leach is the first and only LASIK surgeon in the region to have earned this coveted award.  To date, only a handful of LASIK surgeons nationwide have earned the Centurion Award.
